Alter Ego

Hello everyone! I’m back with another post, and this one is food related! I recently went to Alter Ego to try out their poke bowls. I’ve actually been there before with my boyfriend, and really liked the poke bowl I ordered, so I went there again. This time, with my vegetarian friend 🥗

We ordered the lunch set which is about $18 for a main poke bowl and a drink. So, I ordered the Umami Omega with Southern Sunrise while my friend ordered the Green Goddess, which is vegan, and Pumping Pomegranate 🍹 And, with the lunch set, you can exchange your drink for a dessert for additional $2, or add on a dessert for $4, and so we decided to add on Cacaoholic Smoothie Bowl as our dessert.

Honestly, neither my friend and I really liked the dessert because well, it’s our fault that we didn’t read the description beforehand as we’re both not really fans of chocolate desserts 🍫 But I think, if you love sweet banana and chocolate desserts, you’ll really like the Cacaoholic Smoothie Bowl 🍧 I wish we had ordered something more refreshing and more fruity, but it’s okay, maybe next time haha.

Here is the Green Goddess, honestly, my friend and I were kinda confused with the taste of this because there was so much going on. I felt like the texture wasn’t really ideal as there were a lot of like, mushy (if you get what I mean, like baby food texture) ingredients, which I didn’t particularly mind, nor did I particularly hate it 😕

WhatsApp Image 2017-06-28 at 11.59.50 PMThis is the Umami Omega, and I loved this one. It has salmon sashimi bits, cucumbers, pineapples, kale chips and so much more, and I just love the taste and texture of everything together. If you ever decide to go to Alter Ego, I think you should order this one, it’s SO GOOD!!! 🤓

Something I really loved about Alter Ego was the service provided, the waitress who served us was so friendly and lively, she really gave excellent service which just livened up our moods. For me, I feel like the food was worth it during lunch time as it is a little pricey when it is just a la carte 💸 However, I wasn’t really into the Green Goddess, so maybe you can order other poke bowls but without the meat if you are vegetarian.

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed and will give Alter Ego a try!! 💛

Harry Potter Exhibit + Cafe

Hello everyone! If you know me, you’d know that I’m a pretty big nerd when it comes to Harry Potter. So, my potter head friends and I decided to go to a HP exhibit and cafe together because, well, we’re potter heads. So I donned my house (Hufflepuff!!! 💛 ) colours and headed out!

The Harry Potter exhibit is held at the Singapore Philatelic Museum, and will be going on until 30 June 2017, it is also free for Singapore residents and PRs!!

I have to say, the collection they have on display is pretty amazing, it’s great if you’re a huge potter head like me! They have things ranging from wands to golden snitches and the egg from the Goblet of Fire, AND even the train cabin where Ron and Harry usually sit on the Hogwarts Express. They also have the brick wall and a trolley halfway through it, and a broom to take pictures with!! 🚂

This was probably my favourite thing in the exhibit, they’re pipes which the basilisk used to get around Hogwarts from the Chamber of Secrets, with Ginny’s writing in blood!! Urggh, I live for this 💉

Trust me, there was so much more in the exhibit but I think you should see it for yourself! I mean, it is free for residents and PRs, and there are other exhibits for you to explore other than this one, I think it’s worth a trip!

After exploring the HP exhibit, we made our way to Platform 1094, a Harry Potter themed cafe, located at 1094 Serangoon Rd, Singapore 328192! The cafe is very cosy, and you can definitely feel the HP ambience, with props for you to pose with (including wands, witch hats, round frame glasses and even ROBES!!), even all the chairs have a stag on them (Harry’s patronus, DUH! 🦌).

My friends ordered the Suhnitzel Sous-vide Duck Breast ($19) and Drunken Clam Pasta ($16), while I ordered the Lebanese Grilled Chicken Pasta ($16) and a truffle fries ($10) to share. While waiting for your order, you are offered lemon water in beakers, which I thought was pretty cute haha 💦

To my relief, the food was really good in my opinion, I only tried the pastas because I was already kinda full from all the food. However, the pastas were nicely seasoned and flavourful, and my chicken was nice and tender. I was so afraid the food was going to suck and I’d be so disappointed because I love HP and anything related, but the food was delicious with pretty presentation too!

After having our food, we obviously spent a whole lot of time taking pictures with all the available props haha. The lighting at the cafe with the brick wall as the backdrop is AMAZING!! However, as time went by, the lighting got too harsh and the crowd also started to flow in around 6pm, so, I’d definitely recommend coming on a weekday after lunch time!
